restoration
Restoring old and historic pianos or grand pianos is an interesting challenge that requires a lot of experience and a love for originality!

The originality of the materials and their associated properties are of paramount importance in instrument restoration. Therefore, we strive to preserve the materials as much as possible. Before any restoration, the instruments should be thoroughly examined to determine their essential core components. This means that the fundamental components of the static and acoustic structure, as well as the action (mechanism and keyboard), should be deemed worthy of restoration. Since an upright or grand piano is subject to high string tension, the stability of the wooden or wood/metal construction must also be ensured. After 100 or 150 years, these factors are usually no longer sufficiently present. A meticulous and thorough repair of these areas is therefore absolutely necessary. The worn parts of the action and keyboard, etc., should also be restored using materials very close to the originals. Furthermore, adjustments (regulation, voicing, tuning) are often required several times. The case work is also carried out using materials typical of the period (polishes, hide glues, etc.). Achieving a stable and good-sounding result requires considerable experience. Our specialty is the restoration of the noble and beautiful sounds of the Romantic era.
So, the period between 1825 and approximately 1895. The period after that, up to the present day, is also an important area for repairs.
The cost of a restoration can be determined individually after a thorough inspection.
