August Förster

Traditional and masterful craftsmanship, durable and full of character

Friedrich August Förster

On April 1, 1859, Frederick had himself

August Förster settled in Löbau, executed in

He set up a modest workshop on the second floor of a rear building and built his first piano there on his own. In 1862, he erected his first factory building outside the city, on what is now Jahnstrasse.

This factory has been expanded into a modern operation over the past decades. After the death of August Förster in 1897, his son Cäsar Förster took over the management of the company. In 1900, Cäsar Förster founded a branch factory in Georgswalde, Bohemia.

Currently, the AUGUST FÖRSTER company employs 40 people and produces approximately 100 grand pianos and 140 upright pianos annually. Interested parties and customers are offered the opportunity to witness the craftsmanship firsthand during a guided tour of the production facilities.

To convince manufacturing. This way of becoming familiar with the creation of "one's instrument" is gaining more and more interest and importance.

After many years of very good cooperation with the company August Förster in Löbau, we are pleased to be officially recognized as an authorized partner for the trade and service of A. Förster instruments in Austria since December 2024.

Each instrument is a handcrafted, masterful, one-of-a-kind piece. A piece of musical instrument history that, under the player's hands, coalesces into a unified whole of sound, form, and individual interpretive power. Like almost no other company worldwide, everything is handcrafted. Only the finest materials are used. Each instrument is thus an individual work of art, perfected by the hands of the intonators. Specialized and with decades of experience, they give each instrument the unmistakable "AUGUST FÖRSTER sound."

The grand and upright pianos from August Förster impressed and convinced us greatly when we visited and played them in Löbau. The enthusiasm and passion of the employees were clearly palpable. The attention to detail and the execution were outstanding.

The traditional methods of working according to old principles are combined in the instruments, both in sound and in playing feel.

For us, the highest level of piano craftsmanship at a very good price point. Piano & Art Gallery
